Is your ministry and leadership team prepared to serve in a multiethnic American society?

Based on recent U.S. census data, demographic experts tell us that, by 2045, white American adults will become a minority group as people of color become the majority for the first time in American history. In fact, as of 2021, people of color are already the majority of U.S. population for those under age 18.

Simply, our society is becoming increasingly multiethnic.  

This reality has major implications for the Christian church and ministry leadership.

How do these demographic changes impact your church vision? Your leadership training? Your discipleship content and paradigm? Is your ministry and leadership team prepared to serve effectively in an increasingly multiethnic American society?

Unfortunately, church experts tell us that only about 15% of evangelical Christian churches in the U.S. are considered multiethnic while a vast majority remain ethnically and racially homogenous (having 80% or more of one ethnic group).

If we want to serve Christ faithfully in a multiethnic society, we need a renewal. But what kind?

Tim Keller contends that the key to the future renewal of the American Church is gospel-formed Christian leadership that is MULTI-ETHNIC:

"As said before, the renewed church must from the beginning be multi-ethnic. The initial assembly is crucial. It will not do, for example, for a few older white men to initially plan things and then invite in younger, multi-ethnic leaders. That allows the initiators to have and maintain greater power."

As we see in the church in Antioch (Acts 13), we need leaders of diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds that labor together as equals.
